I am overjoyed to serve as Assistant Principal of Independence Leadership Academy. I have worked as an educator for 15 years in different districts. My latest experience as a leader helped me develop the skills to inform instructional practices, facilitate LEAP testing, conduct meetings with parents, and provide professional development to teachers or staff. This included knowing when to intervene and to provide support for all students to be successful. I believe that it is extremely important to help students develop their talents to be productive citizens.

At ILA, I hope to encourage students to get better every day in every way! It is my goal to invite students into a learning environment that is consistent, has high expectations, and positive relationships. We can accomplish this through student centered instruction, modeling new concepts, providing feedback, and assessing to meet grade level standards. Teaching for many years in different settings has allowed me access to students from different walks of life. At the end of the day, all children are looking for acceptance, guidance, and need strong communities to help them reach their full potential.

As an educator, remembering my why keeps me passionate about helping students overcome adversity. My tenacity keeps me optimistic and not afraid of hard things. This helps me to relate to others, show compassion, and encourage them to look at things from a different perspective. I will rally the troops to have school spirit
and remind others of their why!
